Soy City Crossfit
Head Coach / Owner
My name is Ashley Shehorn. I am a Level 1 CrossFit Coach at Soy City CrossFit. I have been doing CrossFit for 11 years and have loved every minute of it.
I have always wanted to have a place where people could have a positive and motivating CrossFit home. Helping others achieve their goals is very rewarding to watch!
I’m an x-ray tech full time, but dedicate all my outside time to Soy City CrossFit!
I teach Special Education for Decatur Public Schools. I began crossfitting in 2013 (at CrossFit Enhance). Growing up, I was always in a variety of sports and wish CrossFit had been around back then.
I am always finding new ways in CrossFit to challenge myself and improve on the movements in the gym. As a coach, I feel that it's important that all athletes, regardless of where they are in their CrossFit journey, feel welcome and comfortable and know that they are supported in that journey by our gym.
I am coach Megan, have been involved in crossfit since feb 2018 when Crossfit Hera opened and got my L1 that same year! I fell in love with crossfit instantly! CrossFit Hera changed its name to Soy City and I stayed!
I am a RN as my main job and have a busy family life with my boyfriend and our 4 kids! I wouldn’t trade this crazy life for anything !!!
I started my crossfit journey at Crossfit Enhance in 2010. I started coaching soon thereafter in 2011. I was a coach and member there till 2020. I started at Soy City Crossfit in 2021.
My wife, Ginger, and I have one son (Isaac) and three boxers (Rocky, Murphy, and Cashy).
I work full time as a Research Scientist at ADM here in Decatur, IL.
I've been enjoying the sport of Crossfit for the past 11 years with my friends and family. It's been a life changing experience from the beginning for my spiritual, mental, and physical self. I've gained tremendous friendships, confidence in myself, and a love for pushing myself and others to achieve goals.
With the opening of Soy City, I felt compelled to achieve my Level 1 certification and step up to the challenge of coaching.
When I'm not at the gym, I teach 2nd grade at Maroa-Forsyth. I enjoy being outdoors, playing with our dogs, and staying active with my husband, Cory, and our son, Isaac.
I started doing CrossFit in December of 2015 at Capital City Crossfit in Springfield. I moved to Decatur in 2017 and joined CFE until its closure.
I've been at Soy City now since February of 2021. I'm enjoying my new CF home and felt it was a good time to start coaching.
I recently earned my CF-L1 credentials and am excited to begin my journey.
When I'm NOT at Soy City CF, I work at Target and hold the position of Property Management Lead.
